Privacy Policy

IlliNight is a campus nightlife information app. You can browse without creating an account. Some features use an anonymous device identifier so the app can show your own contributions, reduce spam, and avoid letting one device distort crowd estimates.

• Anonymous device ID stored on your device in localStorage. This is not a name, email address, or login account.
• Crowd reports such as cover, line, optional notes, selected bar, timestamps, and report type.
• Community posts, replies, likes, reports/flags, and owner-delete signals.
• Device-level blocks and moderation actions used to hide abusive guests, mute posting, or ban abusive devices.
• Photo submissions, storage paths, moderation status, AI moderation results, bar, timestamp, and uploader device ID.
• Location submitted during optional near-bar verification. Exact coordinates are used for the check and are not stored as public app content. The app may store derived fields such as whether the report was near the bar, a coarse distance bucket, and GPS accuracy.
• Tonight poll votes linked to the anonymous device ID so a device can change or remove its vote.
• Server logs, rate-limit records, hashed request identities, and moderation records used for security, reliability, and abuse prevention.

• Show live crowd estimates, recent line photos, posts, and polls.
• Let you see and remove eligible content submitted from your device.
• Moderate reports, photos, and community content.
• Let users block anonymous guests from appearing in their feed.
• Prevent spam, repeated abuse, and inaccurate crowd manipulation.
• Operate, debug, secure, and improve the app.

Camera, photo library, and location access are optional. You can deny those permissions and still browse the app. Location is requested only for report or photo verification flows. Camera or photo access is used only when you choose to submit a photo.

• Supabase provides database, storage, realtime, and authentication infrastructure.
• Vercel hosts the app and server routes.
• OpenAI may be used for photo moderation and caption parsing when configured.
• Apify is used to ingest public Instagram posts from bars.
• Google Maps/Places may be used to refresh public bar hours.
• Cron-Job.org calls scheduled automation endpoints.

These providers process data only as needed to operate the app. We do not sell personal data.

• Community posts remain until deleted by the device owner, hidden by moderation, or removed through a support request.
• Line photos are temporary and may expire automatically. Uploaders and moderators can remove eligible photos.
• Reports, votes, moderation records, and rate-limit records may be retained for app accuracy, safety, audit, and abuse prevention.
• Device block and moderation records may be retained while needed to honor user block choices and respond to abuse.
• Clearing browser data can disconnect this device from previous contributions, while server-side records may remain for app accuracy, safety, audit, and abuse prevention.

You can withdraw camera, photo, or location access in iOS or browser settings. To request deletion of device-linked content or ask a privacy question, contact illinightsupport@gmail.com. Include your guest label from the Profile tab, the approximate time, bar, and content details so we can locate the right records.
